Barangay Bubug

Historical Background of Barangay Bubug Once upon a time, there is a place from the west under the foot of the mountain named Caraballo. In the year 1990, the Ibanag discovered the place and decided to live here together with their ten (10) members of their family. Through their hand works, efforts and determination they made the place civilized and became comfortable to live. In connection, they called their leader of their group is Tenyente del Barrio. As time goes by, the leader noticed that there are so many fertile plants around the lake. With this, the first name of the Barangay was “SIPAY” the word sipay was adopted from a plant name that cause “ITCHYNESS” when touch by somebody, there were still few houses situated near the rice fields. After a few years the Barangay increased their population as well progress in other aspect. The people moved in the northern part of the Barangay and two (2) person who were pioneers in the year 1920. They were ANTONIO AGPAOA AND ANASTACIO TEPPANG change “SIPAY” into “BUBUG” and they became the leaders of Ilocano. Because of the unity of the Ilocano and the Ibanag, The word “BUBUG” was taken from the word “BAGBAG” a name of a true mostly grown from the place. The Ibanag term was used so turned out to be BUBUG. Both groups agreed to name the place “BUBUG” so until now the word “BUBUG” is really known for everyone.
